Cape Biosphere Trails
The Cape West Coast Biosphere Reserve(CWCBR) is a recognized UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, one of only 6 in South Africa and just over 600 world-wide. It extends from Diep River in Milnerton in the south, to the Berg River of Velddrif in the north, Malmesbury / Moreesberg in the east, and the Atlantic Ocean in the west.
There are 5 trails to complete before you can truly say you have experienced the best the Cape West coast has to offer.
1. Berg River Canoe Marathon
An annual event that takes place in July between Paarl and Velddrif, a relatively easy 240km spread over 4 days with farm stays available on route, there are no rapids making it a suitable adventure for a family, for more info: http://berg.org.za/
